April 2nd – A Short Day

The Haldimand Bird Observatory is made up of two stations: Ruthven Park and Rock Point. Today was our AGM so not only did we run only about half our nets but we had to close up early after only 2 hours of banding. It was kind of a nasty day anyway: cold and overcast. Still, we were catching birds…..

Due to the inclement weather we weren’t seeing the busy migration that was so apparent yesterday. We managed to band 17 birds and retrapped 13 for a total of 30 birds handled.
