Although we got a few showers yesterday afternoon, we didn’t get any during the night. The river has dropped considerably and with it the flood waters along its tributaries – including our wetland. Whew! If you search the above photo carefully, you can find the stake with orange flagging tape that I put in the ground at 8:30 yesterday morning to mark the edge of the flood. As you can see, there has been a considerable drop.
I opened a few nets and did a census but there was very little around and NO new migrants. So I packed up early. I’ve still got 4 nets to erect; two of them can be done now while the other two will have to wait for the water to recede even more. Then I think I will put a couple up in the meadow….
