Nancy and I both got late starts this morning and we both had to leave shortly after 12:00, giving us about 3 hours to catch and band Snow Buntings. It was busy right from the start with birds dropping in from every direction as soon as they saw Nancy arrive and put out breakfast. And they kept arriving all morning. We hardly had time to have a cup of tea. In total, we handled 179 birds in 3 hours – it was obviously a “ring and fling” sort of morning.
Banded 113: 109 Snow Buntings, 4 Horned Larks
Retrapped 66: 52 Snow Buntings (including one banded by David Lamble outside Fergus), 14 Lapland Longspurs.
