MAPS – July 6th, 2007

The fourth session of MAPS today. Despite an adrenaline-filled opening – I was nearly run down by rampaging deer near Net 10, had a Wild Turkey fly at my head at Net 9, and had two duelling American Robins fly into me in the parking lot – it was rather slow today. Other than the fluttering of many male Gypsy Moths the skies were empty, and the woods quiet except for the echoes of several strangled but heart felt profanities.

No cuckoos or orioles were encountered today, but the Killdeer have re-nested in the parking lot and a pair of Purple Martins were observed hovering around the remaining martin house.
