I was helping Joanne Fleet with her innovative program at Fern Hill School today. We caught and banded some interesting birds. When I got home I found some emails from friends near and far telling me about birds they were seeing: Amondi Christine in Matangwe, Kenya and Betsy and Fred Smith 1 km downriver in Cayuga. I think the best way to sum things up is with pictures. [Unfortunately, Nancy, filling in at Ruthven, had a good day – banded Orange-crowned Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Veery and Wood Thrush and saw Chestnut-sided Warbler and Black & White Warbler) – but didn’t send me any pictures.]

The orioles are ravenous. Clean an orange off in an afternoon. They are also eating from the peanut feeder and suet and from the ground.
We had 6 lined up on a tree branch tonight.
