Cold and crisp with a northwest wind – but SUNNY. Lots of activity around the feeders. I opened the nets by both feeder concentrations and, despite the winds, did quite well:

3 Downy Woodpecker
1 Black-capped Chickadee
2 White-breasted Nuthatch
1 Northern Cardinal
1 American Tree Sparrow
1 Song Sparrow
1 Slate-coloured Junco
2 Red-winged Blackbird
16 American Goldfinch
Retrapped 22:

2 Downy Woodpecker
4 Black-capped Chickadee

The river is wide open and home to a large concentration of Canada Geese. A Killdeer checked out the (snow-covered) parking lot. And a Turkey Vulture drifted by.
So far we have banded 101 birds this year.
