With my family attending school they have a ‘Black & Orange’ day where they will wear the two colors for Halloween. My day today was ‘Black and Yellow’ with the greater number of birds banded being American Goldfinches. It was a clear, cold frosty morning when the nets (that had a light coating of frost) were opened. With the cooler temperatures, the warmth of the sun was welcomed as it tipped over the horizon. It helped to warm me up as well as remove some of the frost that was framing the mesh of the opened nets. Despite the cooler temperatures to start the morning the feeders were a ‘hot’ spot to visit, to feed at and for us the busiest place where birds were extracted throughout the morning.
