September 1st, 2013 – And so it begins!

Today was a nice start to the fall banding season, with 32 new birds banded, and 12 recaptures, for a total of 44 birds handled. It was also nice to see familiar faces returning for the fall season.

Despite the hot and humid conditions, banding diversity was excellent, and included a nice diversity of warblers.

Non-banding highlights included a Common Nighthawk flying overhead while opening nets, and a singing Yellow-throated Vireo.
