And a fine day it was too. While opening the nets (in the dark) I could hear a good number of birds calling overhead. When the sun came out we had small “waves” or groups of birds foraging in the tree tops – but they mostly stayed in the tree tops so our banding numbers weren’t extraordinary. There was good variety in terms of the birds encountered; these included: a mature Bald Eagle, Pileated Woodpeckers, 13 species of warblers (including a Northern Parula), and the first Dark-eyed Junco of the Fall season.
