We had quite a thunderstorm move through last night. Evidently, in some parts of the province it caused power outages. But the storm brought northerly winds and dropped the temperature to a point that it was livable…in fact, quite comfortable.
I headed for the banding lab at the usual time but had to hold off opening the nets for about an hour and a half until the rain stopped. As it looked like it could resume at any time, I opened only some of the nets so that I could close them quickly in a downpour. Although we got a couple of brief periods of light rain I kept them open until regular closing time.
There was a nice mix of birds around and I ended up catching the first Connecticut Warbler of the year.
