The first Blue-headed Vireo of the season.
What can I say…..it was just a really slow day. The change in weather can’t get here soon enough. The highlight would have to be the arrival of the first Blue-headed Vireo of the season. A beautiful male Black-throated Blue Warbler – a species that spends its Winter in the Caribbean Islands. Note the dull gray primary coverts (juvenile coverts that have not been moulted) next to the freshly-moulted, blue-edged secondary coverts – a clear sign that this is a young or Hatch Year (HY) bird.
