May 20th – A New Day

After the disappointing day yesterday with the low numbers of birds banded, today was an encouraging day with new year-birds to band. When Rick and I checked nets on the first net round we were excited with the quality and the quantity of birds awaiting us. As the morning progressed, the variety of birds continued with certain net lanes having a number of birds in the nets. We had really good variety: 25 species banded of which 13 were warblers. You just never knew what you were going to get.

New birds banded for the year today were: a Blackburnian Warbler, a Wilson’s Warbler. a Great Crested Flycatcher, and a Northern Parula !
