Migration Monitoring – October 27th, 2007

It is probably supposed that we closed up shop early today due to the incessant rain and ridiculously low rate of capture of unbanded birds (5 per 100 net hours). In reality we closed early due to a dire lack of baked goods. Despite an august assemblage, which included banders, politicians, weavers, and authors, no one stopped by to bring us goodies and bask in our collective presence, nor wonder in our witty repartee.

Stung, and somewhat hurt, we quietly left to lick our wounds (stoically of course) and hope for a better day tomorrow.

Banded: 2 (yes 2, I mentioned a ridiculously low rate of capture?)
American Goldfinch 1
Northern Cardinal 1

Retrapped: 15
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet 1
American Goldfinch 2
Black-Capped Chickadee 6
Slate-Coloured Junco 2
White-Breasted Nuthatch 2
Eastern White-Crowned Sparrow 2
