October 10th – Marsh Wren!

Hi Rick,
The weather was fairly nasty today, but we were able to open the nets for a short period of time this morning, and then again after the rain ended. Despite the shortened netting period we still processed 82 birds (59 new, 23 recaps). By far the banding highlight was a MARSH WREN. I looked at the banding charts and it looks like this is only the 2nd one ever banded at Ruthven. Very exciting!

  1. Hi Matt,
I saw 2 Wrens on the river trail on the river trail on Tuesday as I mentioned to you. I didn’t get a good enough look to see if they were Marsh Wrens. (I do know they were not Carolina Wrens)
