It was an amazing day – albeit very busy! From the first net check, it was a full morning of banding, extracting, and additional net checks. There were 14 species of warblers banded, and the highlight to start the day was the first Northern Parula of the fall season. With the second net check, there were 19 birds in just one net, and they were all a mix of warbler species except for two birds. Before we finished the complete net round, we had run out of bags. The other new species banded for the fall season was the Bay-breasted Warbler, the White-throated Sparrow, and the Lincoln’s Sparrow. In total, we handled 72 birds – 66 banded and 6 retraps.
