December 6th – Winter on the Way?

The temperatures have dropped over the past couple of days – it was -4 at 9:00 this morning. I didn’t open any nets due to the blustery winds (4 on the Beaufort Scale) out of the West. I did have 3 traps on the go for a couple of hours but didn’t catch much. I did a census and picked up 19 species and had 21 overall on the morning (including an Eastern Tuftet Titmouse and a Bald Eagle – neither of which, now, should be a big deal as they appear to be breeding successfully in the area: the former around the Mansion grounds and the latter in Caledona).

Banded 5:
1 American Tree Sparrow
4 House Finches

Retrapped 1:
1 Black-capped Chickadee

ET’s: 21 spp.
